          Deepika Padukone was born on January 5, 1986, in Copenhagen, Denmark.

          The daughter of former professional badminton player Prakash Padukone and successful travel agent Ujjala Padukone, she moved to Bangalore, India at the age of eleven months. While attending college, Padukone pursued modeling and quickly made a name for herself on the Lakme Fashion Week runway.

          She went on to model for brands such as Dabur Lal, Liril, Limca, and Close-Up, and became the international face of Maybelline.

          Bollywood Breakthrough

          Padukone made her acting debut in the 2006 Kannada film "Aishwarya," but her breakthrough came with the 2007 Bollywood film "Om Shanti Om." Starring alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Padukone played a 1970s movie star.
